Pickin’ Like Thieves (a play on the title of INXS’s breakthrough album Listen Like Thieves) is comprised of four INXS songs performed in bluegrass style. The core of the ensemble is the Chicago-based bluegrass outfit Hayward, along with special guest stars Dan Fuchs (on dobro) and Scott Robbin (backing vocals).
“This is not a novelty record,” says producer The Hitmaker. “The songs themselves are strong enough that they really shine when performed in a different style with fresh arrangements. This change of musical setting really show the quality of the songwriting.”
From the gentle, airy take on "Beautiful Girl" to the burnin' version of "Not Enough Time," these versions shed new light on the compositions, creating some serious foot-stomping bluegrass pop.
